Did you hear that earlier this week, after some towns in Vermont were completely cut off by flooding caused by Hurricane Irene, the National Guard used helicopters get food food and water to people stranded there?
What if you lived in a town that was always cut off, and in an emergency you had no way to get medicine or other equipment from outside of your community? In many places in the world, particularly in Africa, that’s the situation people are in every day. That’s where Matternet comes in.
The idea is to use a drone-like device that is navigated from a distance to carry essential supplies, like medicine and other goods, to regions where infrastructure is lacking. We think implementing the idea is a great one.
