This new idea comes with an chance to overturn two common misconceptions. The first is that people who play chess aren’t usually physically strong. The second is that people who box aren’t typically academically gifted.

If you’ve ever played chess, you know it can be demanding. And if you’ve ever boxed, you know how much of your success depends on smart strategy. In eleven alternating rounds of Chessboxing, you can show off your prowess at both. The winner is determined by a knock-out, or a check-mate, whichever comes first. And while we’re not sure about actually participating in a match, it sounds like there’s something for everyone who goes to watch one.
