Haiti: After the Quake

haiti-l.jpg

Haiti is a Caribbean country on the island of Hispaniola, which it shares with the Dominican Republic. The first independent nation in Latin America, it was founded after a slave rebellion in 1804. It’s violent inception seems to have carried on throughout it’s political history — even in stable times it has a reputation for corruption in government and as a dangerous place. Haiti’s people are the poorest in the Americas, living on less than $2 per person per day.

On January 12th, 2010, an earthquake struck just outside of Haiti’s capital, Port-au-Prince. Check out the videos below for our complete coverage of the quake and it’s aftermath.
