How the Dow Jones industrial average fared Friday

The Dow Jones industrial average closed at another record high after an unexpectedly strong jobs report on Friday. Gains were led by banks. The record was the Dow’s second all-time high in a week

The Standard & Poor’s 500 also rose and both indexes recouped their losses from a day earlier.

The Dow Jones industrial average rose 167.80 points, or 1.1 percent, to close at 15,761.78.

The S&P 500 index gained 23.46 points, or 1.3 percent, to 1,770.61

The Nasdaq composite climbed 61.90 points, or 1.6 percent, to 3,919.23.

For the week so far:

The Dow is up 146.23 points, or 0.9 percent.

The S&P 500 is up 8.97 points, or 0.5 percent.

The Nasdaq is down 2.81 points, or 0.1 percent

For the year so far:

The Dow is up 2,657.64 points, or 20.3 percent.

The S&P 500 is up 344.42 points, or 24.2 percent.

The Nasdaq is up 889.72 points, or 29.8 percent
