Can you guess the 10 most commonly found pieces of litter on the beach?
Litter on the beach, like food wrappers, bottles and cans and and other trash can seriously threaten marine life, and seriously mess up your day by the shore. Since you’re going to be at the beach anyway, why not join the fight for healthy seas this summer?!
Here’s how you can organize your own beach cleanup day:
Assemble a Crew and Choose a Beach
Invite as many of your friends and family as you can – remember, the more people, the less time it’ll take! Then, pick a public beach that’s accessible for everyone.
Spread the Word
Use your social channels, like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, to spread the word. To keep everyone in the loop, make a Facebook event.
What to Wear
Make sure you tell everyone to wear sneakers (so no one steps on anything dangerous or burns their feet!), gloves and comfortable clothes.
Bring lots of trash bags so you have somewhere to put all the litter you’re collecting and lots of water to keep everyone hydrated. Also, bring sunscreen to protect everyone from the sun (Like Keith said!)
Continue the Party!
Plan awesome beach activities to celebrate your hard work. We’d suggest a few, but we’re pretty sure you’ve got this part covered.
