Keith Moody

Keith Moody started playing his guitar like a lot of young singer/songwriters — by teaching himself to play a Beatles tune using “a $25 book and DVD package” to get the basics down. In this case, the song was “Norweigan Wood” but wasn’t too long before he started writing his own lyrics that became songs that became an album — which started getting local radio play. And he hasn’t stopped since.

His writing continues to progress, he explained in a phone interview. “At first you write about things you know — but you get to the point where you need to go outside of that, so it’s not so ‘me’ oriented. As a writer, you should become bigger than ‘I’m in Love’ or ‘I’m mad’.” With his EP, Lines he has done that — songs like “Up!,” “Red Line” and “Do it Over,” all of which you can check out here, accomplish just that with a pleasing, rock-influenced sound that reference his classic rock and country influences while still sounding like himself.

He keeps it fresh by constantly touring — except for maybe when the die-hard Alabama fan takes a break to watch football.

"Do It Over" Lyrics

Everyone says you're no earthquake
You're just a bad dream that I need to shake,
but I'm shattered here without you,
Every night I toss and turn,
Like a funeral pyre my dreams they burn,
And I'm embers here without you,

And I've got to say,
You were the best thing in my life,
Regardless of all the pain and the strife,
I gotta tell you,
I'd do it over again,
I'd do it over again,
I'd do it over again.

Time goes by and you're still gone
No matter who I'm with I'm alone
Guess that's life time to move on
They may be the ones it seems
But we both know we still meet in dreams
Life's always better in the rearview

"Red Line" Lyrics

There are so many things
Running through my mind about how a good lovin
Can make you go blind
I can push it aside
But girl not for long
Yeah you know me baby and you know
I ain't that strong
Don't you dare draw that red line
Don't you draw it on me
'cause it just keeps on wrapping around
And wrappin round
And I can't get free

There are so many lies,
You been tellin me,
And they keep on weaving that web of deceit,
All around me.
There is so much pain,
Its broken my will,
Just like everybody else,
I gotta learn just how to deal.
Don't you dare draw that red line,
Don't you draw it on me,
'Cause it just keeps on wrapping around,
And wrappin round,
And I can't get free...

Well I guess I learned the hard way,
Not to cast the first stone,
That will ever kill bein' alone.
Don't you dare draw that red line,
Don't you draw it on me,
'cause it just keeps on wrapping around,
And wrappin round,
And I can't get free...
Yeah it just keeps on wrappin around
And wrappin around and wrappin around
And wrappin around me...

And I can't get free...

"Up!" Lyrics

I was walkin'
Down the street,
Kind of shuffle'n, shuffle'n my feet.
Then she dropped,
Right out of the sky,
Yeah sweeter than Granny's apple pie.
Now I'm up in the morning,
Such a beautiful day,
No matter where I'm goin,
It's always the right way.

In the past the mistress
She up and ran away
But now I know my love
Love's here to stay
Now they say
Lots of fish in the sea
Some like to fish, it ain't for me
Now I’m up in the morning
Such a beautiful day
No matter where I'm goin'
It's always the right way
In the past the mistress
She up and ran away
But now I know my love
Love's here to stay

You ask me how this one's different
Than all the ones before
I guess there's something bigger
That keeps on pushing her back to my door...
Now we're up in the morning
Such a beautiful day
No matter where we're goin'
It’s always the right way
In the past the mistress
She up and ran away
But now I know my love
Love's here to stay
Now I'm up in the morning
Such a beautiful day
No matter where I'm goin'
It's always the right way
In the past the mistress
She up and ran away
But now I know my love
Love's here to stay
Yeah can I get a witness...
