A Step By Step Guide to Business

Step Two: Create a Resource List

When you start a business you don't usually have a lot of money, or a product or experience, so for the most part, you will have to rely on other people for support. In asking for things realize the most valuable things you can get is information and contacts of people who can be customers or provide value to your network. Money is actually ranked pretty low on the list of what you'll need.

You will want to create a resource list of people, places and things that hold value to you. This will allow you to have something to offer in exchange to people whom you will have to ask for their support. The more you have to offer, the more they will give you in exchange. Some examples of resources could be: community leaders, knowledge in a special subject matter or friends in your social network (social capital). Whenever you ask someone for something, always ask them how can you support them. It makes it easier the next time you have to ask them for something.
