Safety First!

The first element anyone should think about when buying a car is safety. This goes beyond thinking about seat belts, which is a must and it almost goes without saying that your car should have them, and that you should use them.

You should also think about the structure of a car you're looking at -- does it have advanced shock absorbers? Reinforced roll bars? Shatter-proof glass?

We spoke to parenting safety expert Alison Rhodes who pointed out you should also check "if there have been any recalls on the model you're looking at." Especially for teens, who often buy used, checking the model online for this information is a must. Alison Rhodes
