Q & A with Lindsay Kerr

Did you receive treatment in high school?

Things kind of got out of control and my parents noticed, so I started seeing a therapist after that. I stayed in therapy starting at 13 and all through high school, but I wasn't completely honest with my therapist because the only thing that gave me satisfaction in my life was my eating disorder, so of course I didn't want to give that up.

Through high school, from like 13 to maybe about 15 I was more anorexic and I would just not eat. I would enjoy the high from not eating and the satisfaction of, 'I've got so much self control.' You almost feel better than yourself because you're sitting at a table and you see people eating french fries and sweets, and you're like 'I have self control, I'm not going to eat that.' "
