Cover or Not?

Updated: June 2, 2008

By Stephanie L. Smith

Quiz yourself and see if you can tell an original hit from a cover song.

Why are covers so popular? They're a good way for new artists to show off their talent ("American Idol" hopeful Clay Aiken doing Simon & Garfunkel's "Bridge over Troubled Water"), older artists to stay fresh ('60s teen idol Paul Anka doing Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit") and the easily amused to be, well, amused (Ozzy Osbourne and Miss Piggy doing Steppenwolf's "Born to be Wild").
