CH1: As a teacher, do you feel that the food your students eat during the day has an effect on their performance in class? If so, how?
Mrs. Q: I believe that now that I am eating the lunches I can more easily draw a line from what they ate to behavior in the afternoon. For example one day after the kids had a fruit bar (which I call an "icee" on the blog because it's frozen) I noticed one of my students really staring off into space and then looking very tired.
When I quizzed this student, I found out that lunch for this student consisted only of the icee, milk, and tater tots before running out of time. So I believe that student was having a crash in blood sugar after lunch.
