Imagine your favorite NBA or NFL team finishes last. Dead last. What now? On the up side, in the NFL, the team that comes in last gets the honor of selecting the first player in the upcoming draft. And in the NBA, it's not bad, either-- you enter a lottery to win your top pick player, with your team having the best chance at landing it. (And there are options: You could use the pick to take the best amateur player available, or you could trade it-- for another player, or even more draft picks down the road.)
