Serena Williams was born September 26, 1981 in Saginaw, Michigan, to Richard Williams and Oracene Price. As a baby, her family moved to Compton, California where she began playing tennis at the age of four. When she was nine-years-old, Serena and her family moved to West Palm Beach, Florida where she and her sister Venus continued to play tennis together.
Since then, she has become one of the most dominant and recognizable figures in tennis. At 28-years-old she has had 23 career Grand Slams, including 11 singles titles, 2 mixed doubles and 10 in women's double, according to her website.
In addition to her powerful career against the best players in the world, Williams also manages to pursue other interests from building her branded empire and charity work, to becoming a certified nail technician in her "free" time.
