There are many diets people follow, but veganism and vegetarianism are more than food choices -- they're a lifestyle. You've probably noticed that many of your friends are eating vegan or vegetarian. By becoming a vegetarian they are not consuming meat, poultry or fish. If they have a vegan diet, they do not eat any animal products or the meats mentioned.

In fact, in two different surveys, researchers found that two percent of teens (ages 13-17) never eat meat, fish, or poultry. And, 0.5 percent of young Americans are vegan.
