My name is John DiGiacobbe. I am a 17-year-old living in Medina County, Ohio. I attend Highland High School and I?m currently a junior.

Since a young age, I have been fortunate enough to be very outgoing and personable. At school, I am involved in many extracurricular undertakings. I am president of student outreach groups such as SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) and AGST (Achieve Greatness, Stay True), while I also founded a chapter of the Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) on campus. Some activities I enjoy are working out, spending time with my friends, and watching college football (Go Rebels)!

Although I live in the North, my heart is in the South, and I plan on going to college/living down there one day.
The three most important aspects of my life are God, family, and the conservative philosophy. I?m quite an avid Republican, and I am currently interning for Representative Jim Renacci.

I base my political ideology off of three basic principles: limited government, individual liberties, and free-market capitalism. The reason why the United States has been so successful over the last two centuries is because great thinkers adopted and applied these doctrines to American society. However, I believe these values that have brought the U.S. prosperity are being threatened today.

In 2008, it was no secret that President Barack Obama had inherited a financial mess. As a conservative, I was just as critical of government expansion/spending policies George W. Bush established towards the end of his second term.

Obama ran on a platform of Hope and Change, while he promised to get our economy back under control. However, three years later, there has been little change and the American people continue to lose hope. Policies initiated by President Obama have done next to nothing to turn around our fiscal woes. The time has come to stop blaming Bush and take responsibility for his failed actions.

The candidate I support for president is Mitt Romney. I whole-heartedly believe he has what it takes to turn our country around. He is a proponent for limited government, lower taxes, and less spending. Even Paul Ryan, Romney?s esteemed Vice President, has a plan for entitlement programs that will lift them out of the mess they?re in and preserve them for future generations. If our nation would simply reapply the principles our country was founded on, then I feel our economy would truly recover.

As a student, I believe the only way to save our country and open the door of opportunity for the future is through the Conservative Philosophy. If we as a nation are to preserve the liberties and freedoms America was founded upon, while ultimately protecting the American Dream, then the time to act is now.
