Cory Lamb
Hear it Now
Cory Lamb has been singing his whole life, but he didn't get his break until an application for an internship took an unexpected turn.
"I wasn't sure how to be an artist," he explained in a phone interview. "So I had decided to try to be involved in art but in a more stable way." He applied for an internship at a recording studio, and to prove to his potential future boss he wasn't completely tone-deaf, he sent him a recording of himself singing at his sister's wedding -- the song was a cover of "Butterfly Kisses."
After hearing him sing, the producer decided he wanted to record an album with Lamb. So he moved to Los Angeles and took some classes and recorded. A couple of years later, with some recording and music experience under his belt, he realized he didn't necessarily need to live in L.A. to be a musician, so he moved back home to Arkansas, where he's now based.
His music is inspired by "what the world and our country is going through. We've been in a dark time for many people, with the economy and wars. I want to be a light, and bring a message of love and hope." Which he does by constantly touring -- the performances keep him on the road and away from home a lot, but, like many touring musicians, he believes "it's a blessing to be able to do this."
