Dan Godlin

Hear it Now

Although Boston-native Dan Godlin taught himself to play music as a kid and he played throughout middle school and high school, he didn't start taking music "seriously until my senior year." And by taking it seriously, he means he wrote an album no small feat for a 17-year-old. He's spent the last few years going to college and working with producers on recording and releasing singles -- including "Unsure" (watch the video here!).

The songs, which will be on his album Loving on Empty and is due out in the fall ("hopefully in September"), are mostly about relationships, but Dan finds inspiration in lots of places, he explained in a phone interview. He's enjoys writing about "something random, capturing a moment in time" -- one of the tracks, "Did She Look" is about a glance in a coffee shop that stuck with him.

His sound, influenced by John Mayer, Rob Thomas, the Counting Crows and the Goo Goo Dolls is tried and true pop with easy-going melodies and pleasant lyrics, most of them, Dan confirmed, about a relationship that ended. With the hard work of that relationship and the writing out of the way, Dan is concentrating on "juggling everything" it takes to finish it up the album, play out and finish school, all at the same time. If you want more from Dan, check out the tracks here on his site -- they speak for themselves.
