Days Difference
Hear it Now
On their way to a show at Six Flags in Gurnee, Illinois, we caught up with Days Difference to hear the ins and outs of touring with family and staying in shape. We spoke with lead singer Jeremy Smith from the band's van about their shows. "What really sets us apart, I think, is our energy. When we perform, we are happy and we are really into what we are doing," he said.
It's obvious this group of four knows how to play and have a good time -- whether they're on stage or playing "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2." Over the last two months, Jeremy Smith (lead vocals and keys), Jonathan Smith (vocals and drums), Jeremiah Ricks (vocals and guitar) and Micah Ricks (bass) toured with Jordin Sparks across the U.S. And, soon the band will take a month-long break before hitting the road again this fall.
So, how does a group of guys stay entertained and fit while being couped up in a van? Well, according to Smith, "We buy our own food and when we were on tour with Jordin, she always had good food. She eats very healthy." In addition to eating right, Days Difference has another thing in common -- they are brothers. Both Jeremy and Jonathan and Jeremiah and Micah are related, but don't think for a second it makes road trips tense -- the guys get along really well since they all enjoy playing video games, rehearsing and listening to European bands like U2 and Coldplay. The only thing you'll find them arguing about is grammar. "We fight over words and grammar," Smith said laughing. "We have English teachers for moms so we're total grammar nazis."
One thing's for sure, the band does know how to create a record. In 2007, they released their first album Numbers and in 2009 they releaseed their self-titled album which is also being released by their label in stores this year. The band hopes to shoot a video for their single, "Speakers," and start writing when they get home. "Creativity is useless without hard work," said Smith. "You have ideas, you try them and see if they work out." If the band's concert dates are any indication, their creativity and hard work is paying off.
