Jupiter Rising

Hear it Now

There's a new dance duo in the music stratosphere with dance-infused star-makers like "L.A. Girls" and "Falling Away." Yet, Jessie Payo and Spencer Nezey of Jupiter Rising are still playing it cool. Well, except when Payo heard "L.A. Girls" on The Hills. "I cried," she replied with a laugh, "This is the music we created together." She said in a phone interview with Nezey.

Based in L.A., Jupiter Rising is ready to blast beyond the likes of the Black Eyed Peas and give Lady Gaga a run for her "Paparazzi" with the March 17, 2009 release of their album "The Quiet Hype." "We write and produce our own music," said Nezey. And, we're not surprised. With fresh, funky beats and punchy lyrics, we can tell they are having a good time and about to take off on the music charts.

Like their music, creatively Payo and Nezey also interplay their personalities and tastes in music. Growing up in Eagle Rock, California, Payo sang Janis Joplin covers when she was 13, while Nezey was playing for a high school Jazz band in Sacramento.

With diverse inspirations and humor, this pair always keeps each other and their audiences entertained. When asked what they think about when creating music, Payo responded by saying it's her personal experiences and "the stuff that makes us all tick" that gets her going. For Nezey, it's: "Stuffed animals and low-top vans in assorted colors."

All kidding aside, the first time Nezey and Payo worked together they wrote the song "Electropop" in a single afternoon. "We get ourselves in a good place," said Payo. We look forward to seeing Jupiter Rising's gravity in L.A. and beyond.
