Keith Moody

Hear it Now

Keith Moody started playing his guitar like a lot of young singer/songwriters -- by teaching himself to play a Beatles tune using "a $25 book and DVD package" to get the basics down. In this case, the song was "Norweigan Wood" but wasn't too long before he started writing his own lyrics that became songs that became an album -- which started getting local radio play. And he hasn't stopped since.

His writing has progressed a bit since then, he explained in a phone interview. "At first you write about things you know -- but you get to the point where you need to go outside of that, so it's not so 'me' oriented. As a writer, you should become bigger than 'I'm in Love' or 'I'm mad'." With his latest EP, Lines he's done that -- songs like "Up!", "Red Line" and "Do it Over", all of which you can check out here, accomplish just that with a pleasing, rock-influenced sound that references his classic rock and country influences while still sounding like himself.

He keeps it fresh by constantly touring -- except for maybe when the die-hard Alabama fan takes a break to watch football. For the summer, he's on the road supporting the EP before heading back into the studio to record his third EP in the fall. We can't wait to hear what's next.
