Locksley

Hear it Now

If there's one band who can revive doo-wop music with a punk rock spin, Locksley will have fans lining up in matching tuxedo jackets. Combining rhythm and blues group vocal harmonies with a splash of British Invasion punk, this Brooklyn band transplanted from Wisconsin, masters their high-spirited nostalgic genre in tracks like "The Whip" and "Darling, It's True."

Formed in 2003, Jesse Laz (vocals/guitar), Aaron Collins (bass/vocals), Kai Kennedy (lead guitar/vocals) and Sam Bair (drums) moved to New York in pursuit of music glory at the historical CBGB. After a few years of commercial success with their debut self-titled album, the band released Garage Sale, and Don't Make Me Wait and toured with acts like The Hives, Ok Go and She Wants Revenge. In 2008, Jesse's brother Jordan replaced bassist Aaron Collins.

Locksley's latest release, Be In Love, a more refined and sophisticated version of their earlier albums, is filled with playful beats and melodies reminiscent of The Strokes that will have you wishing for a vintage mic to croon over. According to their website, the band is currently working on a music video for "The Whip" and Sam was the victim of a driveby strawberry ice cream cone-ing. And, to get your taste of this fun band that's clearly ready for a summer -- check out the songs and music video below.
