Someone Say Something
Hear it Now
Live from bassist Stephen Lemos' kitchen, New Jersey rock band Someone Say Something has plenty to chat about on speaker phone with band members Tim Sussman (Vocals), Marco Colasacco (Keyboard), Carlo Colasacco (Guitar) and Ryan Harte (Drums). Not many bands get to perform at the Bamboozle Festival only a few months after starting their band, but for Someone Say Something, it's all history now. After playing a few festivals, the band released their self-titled EP about a year ago. Since then, touring has gone well for the band. They shared some of their favorite moments, including playing on the same stage as Journey in Daytona Beach.
"Playing outdoors was great, it was like an ampitheater. And we played in the same place as Journey," explained Lemos, "so we covered the song 'Don't Stop Believing' 20 years later."
This moment of awe for the greats in music relates to their humble beginnings and rock influences. Though the band met through mutual friends in college, the inception of the band's name occurred when Colassaco and Lemos performed at a talent show together. When asked the name of their act, they weren't sure, "Someone Say Something," was the resonse that stuck. "I guess we like to just get together and play when we can," said Sussman. The band has many influences from modern tastemakers like Blink-182, Green Day and The Offspring -- to classic figures in rock like Queen, The Beatles and Led Zepplin.
Songs like "Because of You," come from more personal perspectives, "The inspiration was a breakup, but not in a bad or full positive way," explained Colassaco. When asked about their performances the band agreed on their single as one of their favorites. "Because of you is probably the most catchy," said Sussman of his favorite song to perform, "It's probably the most powerful. It goes over well live."
