Stacie Rose
Hear it Now
This Jersey girl listens to what the universe has to say. Before Stacie Rose released her double EP, "Alter-Ego," last summer, which pulls together a dance heart and 70s and 80s rock soul, she was seeing the beginnings of it everywhere.
That's why even though her life wasn't really giving her time or space to write and produce something new, she did it anyway and on a shoestring budget, no less. Because she's licensed her work to MTV shows and even American Airlines radio, you probably heard without realizing it. After getting her start in high school musical theater (yes, she loves "Glee"), Stacie was inspired to try to reach others with her songs and help them -- or just make them happy. "The greatest experience is when it's not just about you anymore" she explained in an interview.
With this album she's evolved beyond her previous singer-songerwriter vibe -- tracks like the title song "Alter-Ego" and "Sunny" are pleasing pop that is a pleasure to listen to, while the other side is a little grittier. Both, however, are honest and authentic, qualities which are getting harder to find in mainstream music. For that, we'll take either side of Stacie Rose anytime.
Check out her songs below and decide for yourself, and be sure to pick your fave in the poll. For more from Stacie, don't miss her web series about creating music, Suite Songs.
