Hear it Now
"It only takes one person to believe in you," said singer-songwriter Stacy Clark. For Clark, it was many. After moving from New York to California, Stacy Clark had friends and family who supported her dream of becoming a recording artist. She moved to California knowing only one person in San Diego. Soon she made more friends who believed in her and helped her follow her dream.
"I wouldn't be able to do it myself, I gave up everything for music. It was challenging," she admits, "I did whatever it took to make the dream happen." Clark stayed with friends, slept on her yoga mat and even worked as a waitress and in marketing for a while to pay the cost to make her album. "I'm so driven and obsessed with music," she said proudly.
When it comes to song-writing Stacy believes in letting things come to her because you can force inspiration or be "on" all the time. "The best songs come as a surge of thoughts, ideas or melodies," she said. And when she's not writing songs or in the recording studio, Clark is outside playing soccer two times a week or going to the park with her dogs.

She also likes rockclimbing, but she's not overly concerned with her appearance. "I think it's a good thing that I'm curvy," she said. "People should be healthy!"
Stacy Clark also enjoys to hanging out with her friends and band. Since she's been signed by Vanguard records, her days are full, but she's used to "having a lot on her plate" and making time to be creative. "You make use of what you have. And with music, you get to make sense of everything."
She released her full-length album Apples & Oranges in 2007 and Connect the Dots will be available on August 10, 2010, it's clear her dedication, talent and gamble are totally paying off. "The truth is, before people are 'discovered' many different things happen," explained Clark. "People believed in me and by putting yourself out there, you create your own opportunities. There is no such thing as a big break."
