Tyler Bryant

Hear it Now

"When I was in first grade, my teacher played an Elvis video for my class and at that moment, everything changed for me," said Tyler Bryant in an email. "I knew I wanted to be a musician."

For Bryant, music is life. And it all began with Elvis and a three dollar guitar his mom bought for him when he was seven. "But that was enough for me to play, and carry around, and pretend I was Elvis," He said. "I even dyed my hair black and wore a gold lame jacket!"

This Elvis-inspired guitarist has not only been touted as a "guitar prodigy" and future "rock god," by photographer Robert Knight -- he's also known as a small-town guy. "I was born in Honey Grove, Texas, which is a small country town with a population of 1700," explained Bryant. " The 18 year old recently moved from the "sweetest town in Texas" to pursue his music career in Nashville, Tennessee, at just 17.

Since moving to Nashville, he's written over 170 songs and has been busy working on his first album with his bandmates, Caleb Crosby, who plays drums and, Calvin Webster, who plays bass. Despite the band's small size, this trio knows how to have a good time and get pumped for shows. Before each performance they huddle together for a quick battle cry: "Small, but mighty!"

And if nightly shows, great new songs and a growing fan base aren't enough, over the last year he has played with top acts like Heart, REO Speedwagon, BB King, .38 Special and Vince Gill. Did we also mention his upward trajectory has put him front of legendary rock photographer Robert Knight in the documentary "Rock Prophecies?"

Looks like Bryant is not only shaking up the music scene, he's also bringing real rock back. Nice. To read more about Tyler Bryant -- want to know his favorite candy? -- check out the gallery. For more about "Rock Prophecies," don't miss the trailer below.
