Relief organizations can use cash to purchase exactly what is needed-- such as tents, food, blankets and medication.
Confirm the need
Do not make assumptions. You can confirm what is needed by checking with an on-site relief organization.
Volunteer opportunities for disaster relief are limited
If you do no have prior disaster relief experience you will generally not be selected to aid in the relief effort. You have a greater chance of being selected if you are fluent in the language of the disaster area or have expertise in a technical field such as medicine.
