Ever wonder about the largest state in America? We're not talking about Texas! Alaska, our icy state bordered by the Arctic Ocean and Canada is the biggest in area. It was also the forty-ninth state, bought from the Russian empire for only two cents an acre, which means it cost about $7.2 million dollars.

Alaska has diverse landscape and wildlife. There are glaciers, volcanic islands and many different species of animals living in all parts of the state -- even in the cities. Fishing is also very popular given the large salmon population in the Northern Pacific Ocean and Gulf of Alaska.

To discover more about the state, its history and the animals that live there, explore the quiz and galleries below.
