Arne Duncan

Secretary of Education Arne Duncan is a Chicago native who attended Harvard and earned a degree in sociology before playing professional basketball -- he's six foot five! -- in Australia until 1991.He met his wife there before returning to Chicago in 1992 to direct the Ariel Education Initiative, and though he has never worked as a classroom teacher, has been a part of education administration his entire career.
He spent seven years as the CEO of the Chicago Public Schools before becoming the Secretary of Education.
