I think most people's knowledge of AIDS has increased, but not their comfort. It's still a subject that most choose to ignore rather than face the facts. When I say, "My uncle died of AIDS," I can actually feel the discomfort in the room. There's a negative connotation that comes with HIV/AIDS and that's not fair.
