Green Party

The Green Party, modeled on Europe's environmentally conscious Green Party, was founded in the United States in 1984. The party first rose to national prominence in 2000, when its presidential candidate, consumer activist Ralph Nader, won 2.7% of the national vote. The group supports public participation at every level of government; social justice and equal opportunity; ecological initiatives; and non-violence.
