Most of us, even the lowest of the low maintenance, use some kind of product for something everyday (hello, deodorant?). And for those of us who actually do use a number of products, we probably don't even realize how many we actually do use each day. For example, a small study conducted by the Environmental Working Group showed that on average, teenage girls (ages 14-19) used 17 cosmetic products each day, for a total of 174 separate ingredients.Have you ever thought about what those 174 ingredients are? And what kinds of chemicals you might be using without even realizing it?
Shelby Holliday spoke to one teen who found out the answer -- and when she wasn't happy with it -- did something. Check out the video below for the story, and don't miss our Behind the Scenes video from the day of the shoot.
When one student found out what ingredients are regularly used in cosmetics, she started her own, non-toxic line.
