Rogers attended Wellesley and then Harvard for her MBA before marrying and moving to Chicago, where she worked in real estate before going on to run the Illinois State Lottery and continuing a long career in businesses ranging from art to insurance.A personal friend of the Obamas, Rogers became the White House social secretary when President Obama took office in January.
As a native New Orleanian, Rogers has twice been the queen of the Zulu parade during Mardi Gras and her favorite phrase is rumored to be "Laissez les bon temps roulez!"*
