Stating: "I want to kill myself."
If someone says, "I want to kill myself," or "I'm going to commit suicide," take the statement seriously and always seek assistance from a qualified mental health professional immediately.Though many people are uncomfortable talking about their feelings, particularly in relation to death, asking the teen whether he or she is depressed or thinking about suicide could help. Connecting with someone with the warning signs could help the teen realize that someone truly cares and can help provide support to find a the proper resources to feel better.
If one or more of these signs occurs, help the individual seek professional help from a physician or a qualified mental health professional. With support from family and appropriate treatment, people who are suicidal can heal and return to a more healthy life.
