In 2005, Hurricane Katrina made landfall on the gulf coast of the U.S., leaving 80% of the city of New Orleans submurged. Almost 2,000 people were killed, and hundreds of thousands were forced to flee, leaving behind their homes and lives. The area is still recovering and rebuilding.
