Need Ideas?

Looking for suggestions for what to focus your video on? Here are a few possibilities:

1.Simulate a visit to the doctor. Have the doctor talk about the patients cholesterol or thyroid test results, stressing that a laboratory that produced the results.

2. Many adults are on "Coumadin" therapy (warfarin) and they have their blood tested routinely to ensure it clots correctly. We've learned that different people respond differently to the drug and there are genetic tests to predict how one will respond which will prevent over or under dosage.

3. Certain drugs are used to control seizures or depression need to be kept within precise levels within the blood. The problem is that everyone metabolizes the drugs differently, so blood tests are used to help adjust dosages.

4. Focus on the career with brief mentions of the medical benefit, but focusing on the availability of positions everywhere and for every educational level of attainment (high school only, associate degrees, baccalaureate degrees and advanced degrees).

5. Try creating a forensic pathology story like CSI, that focuses on the laboratory side of their work. Dr. G, the medical examiner, is also a good model.

6. Go to your local lab and conduct interviews with lab people. Ask questions like "why do you like working in the lab?"
