MOONBUGGY!

MOONBUGGY!

Updated: August 05, 2008

What's it like to ride on the moon? It's not as easy as you might think. Each year, competitors from across the country face off in the Great Moonbuggy Race sponsored by NASA.

Competitors have to build a "buggy," facing similar problems the orignal moonbuggy engineers had. Then the high school and college teams ride their human powered vehicles down half a mile of moon-like terrain made out of rocks and gravel. The winner is the team that completes the course in the shortest amount of time.

Let the games begin! Chris Browne covers the race and even takes a ride on a moonbuggy.
