Pakistan is straddles a difficult geographical position among influential nations that have strained the culture, religion and politics of this under-developed nation. Located on the border of the Middle East and Central Asia, the country neighbors Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, China and India.

As the world's sixth most populous nation, the nation also struggles with poverty. Despite this fact, the country is filled with a rich heritage dating back to ancient civilizations like the Neolithic era Mehrgarh and the Bronze era Indus Valley Civilisation (2500 BCE -- 1500 BCE). Pakistan also has the second largest Muslim population in the world.

Modern Pakistan faces much military and political strife due to its unstable government. Most recently, Pakistan has carried the economic burden of refugees from the Afghan War. Despite these challenges, the country offers an eclectic array of art, music and architecture.
