President Obama's Speech to Students

On September 8th, the first full school day for many schools across the country, President Obama is giving a special and direct address to students urging them to take ownership in, and be accountable for, their own education.

"This is the first time an American president has spoken directly to the nation's school children about persisting and succeeding in school. We encourage you to use this historic moment to help your students get focused and begin the school year strong."
-- U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan describing the event in a special letter to principals featured on the White House website.

You can watch the broadcast online by visiting this page at 12pm (EDT) on September 8th.

Channel One News will also transmit President Obama's address in its entirety via satellite by 2pm (EDT). At that time, a menu item will automatically be added to your school's Channel One head-end unit entitled "Special Report."
