"Some 120 of my students have created projects for the Lexus Environmental Challenge, cleaning up, publicizing problems and organizing efforts to improve the Earth in creative ways. Six teams have gone on to win a total of $18,000. Proposals included going green for St. Patrick's Day with NCD (No Car Day), mandatory radon testing, a school-district-wide recycling program, creating a website dedicated to water conservation and promoting Lights Out Utah. All of these projects help our community in various environmental ways, including clean-up, education and meeting with district and local officials."
