"Some 120 of my students have created projects for the Lexus Environmental Challenge, cleaning up, publicizing problems and organizing efforts to improve the Earth in creative ways. Six teams have gone on to win a total of $18,000. Proposals included going green for St. Patrick's Day with NCD (No Car Day), mandatory radon testing, a school-district-wide recycling program, creating a website dedicated to water conservation and promoting Lights Out Utah. All of these projects help our community in various environmental ways, including clean-up, education and meeting with district and local officials."

"A few classes are making a combined effort to make drinking water healthier in our area, and hopefully, eventually, nationwide. We are doing this by getting different pharmacies involved in getting rid of old pharmaceuticals, which many people have flushed down the toilet or thrown in the trash. As a result, pharmaceuticals have gotten into the water and are harming animals."

"Our student council has created a 'green team' to recycle all paper that gets thrown in the trash cans and news papers etc. This helps save the environment and raise money for our school."
