One hundred and ninety million Americans are obese. That's two-thirds of our population. While there are many diets out there, there's one thing nutritionists believe can help solve America's ever-expanding weight problem: counting calories.Monitoring how much you eat, in relation to your activity level is a healthy way to watch your weight. To help that pursuit, given the large amount of calories in many fast food and chain restaurant dishes, some states will now require franchises to display calorie counts on their menus.
In New York, health officials implemented the law in 2008. Other states are following suit, shocking restaurant patrons with 400-500 calories pastries at Starbucks and 1,000-calorie burritos at Chipotle, so we want to know what you think about displaying calorie counts on menus.
By showing the surprisingly high amounts of calories in foods some people consume daily, the Department of Health and Hygiene hopes it will help Americans make better decisions about what they eat. Will knowing how many calories are in foods change what and how often you eat high-calorie food? Tell us below and don't forget to share your faves and why you would, or wouldn't stop eating something.
