A Bicycle Built for Everyone

1.24.13

Check out this idea for using recyclables in a whole new way – a cardboard bike. That’s right, a designer came up with the idea and then built a bike made entirely of old cardboard and recycled rubber tires. It can support almost 500 pounds and when it’s covered with a coat of water-resistant paint, it’s pretty sturdy too!

The best part might be that the materials needed to make the bike only run about nine bucks, making it a great option for people in places where riding a bike instead driving is the best way to get around. And not only is riding great exercise, biking can be five times as fast as walking, which can make a big difference in the lives of people who have to travel long distances daily.

So tell us what you think. Are 100% recycled bikes the next big thing? Vote in the poll now!
