Parking Art

If you ever feel like you’re living inside a Joni Mitchell song — a world full of parking lots — this idea for the next big thing might be for you.

In an effort to get creative, beautify AND raise funds, some schools are selling the rights to personalize parking spots in the school lot. For between $30 and $50, you can now declare your sports affiliation, extracurricular affinities, or maybe just your initials on a reserved parking spot — which also means you don’t have to drive around looking for parking every morning.

And while this idea might seem a little¬†unfair for students who don’t drive to school — the schools that are doing it say that it’s worth it because of the funds it brings in to support extra programs that are always in need of extra funding.

So what do you think? Is personalized parking the NBT? Vote in the poll to weigh in!

I don’t really like the idea of having your own parking space because if you don’t want to pay for it you might have to park way out at the back of the lot just because you don’t want to pay 30 dollars. and also what if the people who buy one dont even use it it would be a waste

You only have to pay 30 dollars if you want to personalize the parking spot if you dont want to pay you dont have to, you should also be able to keep your spot.

Ok, this idea is bonkers for a few reasons; For example going to a big concert. All the parking spots are taken except 1. You pull up to it and see it’s reserved! What a bummer! Now you have to park a long way away and have to walk tot he entrance? Nope, terrible idea!

I feel the exact same way. I wish I could have them at my school, though. If they did, there would be fewer road rage incidents. Even if you have to pay for them, it would still mean that you could get your own parking space.

I believe this is a bad idea because its a waste of money by making you pay 30 dollars to have your name in chalk on concrete. Why not just get some chalk and do it yourself for free. Also i believe its a too foolish of idea to entertain or participate in. So i give it a thumbs down!

Yeah, this is an easy way for the school to earn and for students to have fun with their own parking space for a year. The next year it could be painted over or just used again.

Yes, when someone sees your parking spot they see your personality and the things you like and it is easy to find your parking spot.

That’s sweet it makes you always remember where you are supposed to park, and it lets you put your own little personal touch to the place where you park.

This is a way to show your creativity and/or personality. Plus $30.00 a year isn’t that much for a personal parking spot.

That is nice now we can remember where to park at school, or wherever we put it, there wouldn’t be any trouble finding your spot, and come on you can put your own personal touch on your own parking spot. AMAZING!!!!!:-]

Many schools make their students pay to park anyway, I know mine does. $50 per year, or $20 per trimester. Our parking spots are numbered, so it is not hard to remember our spots. Also, if students were allowed to paint on their assigned spots, then couldn’t there be vulgar things and profanity? As well as the school having to pay money to cover up the paint when seniors graduate and leaved their parking spots to underclassmen.

Yes, I do think there should be personalized parking because people will always have a parking spot and there won’t be as much conflict about one person stealing another person’s spot. People won’t be as mad and it will be less likely for students or even facility to come to school upset over a parking spot being stolen.

Are you kidding me? This is even worse than the paper for planting! nobody cares about trees, and nobody cares about painting a small little tile for your car that is going to later be car jacked because it is a freakin’ mini cooper and your spot will be destroyed by one of three things, first a natural disaster, second is the talaban, an third (most likely) Barak Obama! This entire idea of a painted parking spot is a lod of crap!!!

No because $30 a month is way too much money just for painting a parking lot and eventually you might not even go to that place anymore so it would be a waste of money to pay and then not even go to the place.

I don’t think is the NBT because if people come to the same place as you, they could see if you are not there and if you are there. Plus its not a huge invention its just paint on cement where you can park in.

If you have a parking place far away from your destination and you have to park there every day you might get a little frustrated because you have to walk a long time! If you went to your destination early, you would have the whole parking to yourself. So why park in a spot 100 feet away from the place you wanted to be? -Dallas
