Reading 2.0

How much more exciting would Lord of the Flies be if you could hear the ocean in the background?

With Booktrack, you can find out. This new product for your e-reader aims to make your reading experience more engaging by providing appropriate sound effects and background to your favorite books. For now, they’re available for classics that are in the public domain, but the plan is to expand this new kind of media into many books, new and old, so you could be reading the latest vampire tale complete with screams before long.

We know some people will probably say that half the fun of reading is imagining what an author had in mind when writing, but we still think this idea sounds like fun.

What do you think? Is Booktrack the next big thing — or should this idea go the way of Smell-O-Vision?
