The Great Valley

The Brothers Matos, otherwise known as Nick and Louis, are the men behind the band “The Great Valley.” You could say this duo has music in their blood. Growing up as the sons of a drummer dad and a music teacher-by-day-pianist-by-night Mom — they had a head start in the music department.

Now, they are well on their way. Their album “Ruthless,” features what they call a more mature sound than their past work. A sound that has developed into more “alternative rock” or as they say, “rock with catchy choruses.”

The Great Valley debuted a music video for their song “Wrecking Ball,” which was inspired by break ups and fittingly, symbolically has the brothers breaking inanimate objects like a fish bowl (they promise no animals were harmed in the making of their music video).

Originally from Wilmington, Delaware, the brothers were inspired to form their own band after going to concerts in their hometown. And that is exactly the advice they would give to other aspiring musicians: do what you love and be an active participant in the industry. Look, listen and give it all you’ve got.

"Dirty Work" Lyrics

Things weren't meant to be this way. I'm a few short years away from hangin' up and giving up. I'm the only one to blame.

And it boils inside of me smiling gracefully.

Yeah I'm so terrible. I spent my whole life wondering why you're so miserable. You played it safe while I did the dirty work.

No one should have to go through this. I have never felt so useless from waking up and cleaning up this hopelessness from my face.

And it boils inside of me smiling gracefully.

Yeah I'm so terrible. I spent my whole life wondering why you’re so miserable. You played it safe while I did the dirty work.

I've always been unstoppable. Why should I quit now? Every day is a battle in my head against myself and I'm sick of it.

"Yesterday" Lyrics

We were young so it was easy to imagine where all of this was heading. More courageous than two boys could ever be. Filled with hope now that we can finally tell our story.

Time flew by like chills up through my spine.

We're alive and we're here after all those dreadful years.

Can you smell it? Can you taste it like it was yesterday?

Reminiscing comes too easy and the person that you were is now missing. All we want is a little security to go with the fact that we can’t ever go back.

Time flew by like chills up through my spine.

We're alive and we’re here after all those dreadful years.

Can you smell it? Can you taste it like it was yesterday?

Together we'll get through this. We are one.

"Sweeter Side of Life" Lyrics

What a waste. How it all turned out.
Now I need some talkin' down. On the edge.
I'm freakin' out. Still don't get what life's about.
I'm deranged. That's for sure 'cause all these vampires at my door.

Open up to me they sing so they could live vicariously through me. Rotting their brains trying to understand my pain.
One of these days I'm gonna taste of the sweeter side of life.

Gimme a break. I've sacrificed.
Can't take anymore advice. Let it go.
Hear their call. They'll be nothin' left of me at all.
If that's the case then its for sure no more vampires at my door.
Open up to me they sing so they could live vicariously through me. Rotting their brains trying to understand my pain. One of these days I'm gonna taste of the sweeter side of life.

Make believe that you'll be alright.
And when the time comes to fight
We'll see which one of you loses to me.
