Filmed in the jungle of the Ivory Coast, the latest film from Disneynature — which opens Friday (April 20th) — tells the story of an adorable young chimpanzee, Oscar, as he grows up under the watchful, and educational eye of his mother, Isha.

When Oscar and his group are attacked by a rival group of chimps, he is separated from his mother, and something remarkable happens. The film takes full advantage of amazing footage from a rarely-captured part of Africa — making the movie well worth a trip to the theater to watch it on the big screen, not to mention the fact that part of the first week’s proceeds will go to the Jane Goodall Institute.

Watch the video to learn more about what the filmmakers experienced while capturing this story.
