Julian: Wearing a bike helmet is smart. And in many places, it’s the law. But they’re big and not very good-looking. So a company in Sweden developed something a little different.
The company’s called Hovding, which means chieftain in Swedish. It’s created a new type of bicycle helmet, a collar that inflates like an air bag.
Using electrical sensors, the Hovding takes about a tenth of a second to inflate using helium, and keeps your head cushioned in case of multiple impacts. And charging it is as easy as plugging in your iPod.
The Hovding debuted on the runway as a fashion accessory, and it comes in multiple colors and designs. The Hovding runs about six hundred bucks.
