The NBT: Paper Thin

Transcript

Scott: Get excited because it is time for another Next Big Thing! Now, let’s see what you thought about last week’s.

We told you about LUM Apparel, the clothing line that you can draw on with LED lights and smartphones. But is it the next big thing? Eighty-four percent of you said, ‘Yes, give me the glow!’ But sixteen percent of you said, ‘No, it is a no-go.’

For this week, it is something you can use to type, draw or write and takes up almost no space.

This may look like just a piece of paper, but it is actually a completely functional touchscreen keyboard for tablets and smartphones. It is only half a millimeter thick, making it the world’s thinnest.

Paul Williamson: But it can do more than just text and keyboard; it can do the mousing functions and gestures that you’d expect from a tablet. And it’s so thin, it can even be slid behind the page of a notebook.

Scott: It comes from Cambridge Silicon Radio, and connects to any device wirelessly using Bluetooth technology. It is battery powered and could be available to you within a year.

So, is a super-thin keyboard the next big thing? Well, head to Channelone.com and weigh in.
