Transmit Now

The band members of Transmit Now, a Florida rock band, are the “Posterboys” of togetherness as they travel across the country in their van without roadies, an entourage — or space. The close quarters, according to vocalist Andy Brooks are “pretty glamorous,” he said with sarcasm in a phone interview before hitting the road again. “It’s literally just the five of us, setting up and tearing down for shows,” he said, “The experience keeps us together.”

While on tour, the band has plenty of time to share their lives, play with bassist Lee Gianou’s new iPad, eat fast food (that then requires running excursions in new locales), and listen to their eclectic music choices as they drive to gigs. Gianou “is a music snob and has albums you’ve never heard of,” while twin brothers Greg (drums) and Kevin (guitar) Parrow are as different in personality as much as they look alike, listening to “country and Aerosmith.” For Brooks, it’s all about Michael Jackson and Silverchair. Though the entire band’s music preferences vary, as a group they count Incubus, New Found Glory and Florida band Amberlin, as influences.

Creatively, this mix of genres and personalities blends in a way that has brought the band early success since their first live performance together at the Vans Warped Tour in 2008. Since then, their songs have been featured on MTV — the network even flew a TV crew to Florida to film a music video for them. And, on May 25, 2010, the band released their debut album Downtown Merry Go Round a “powerpop-rock” album that was a big test for Brooks in terms of writing, but well worth the “Songwriting Boot Camp 101.”

Clearly, with catchy tracks like “Poster Boys” and “Let’s Go Out Tonight,” the band’s work paid off and we have much more to see from this band of talented friends who know how to rock, have a good time and work off those calories from Wendy’s.

Lyrics for "Poster Boys"
By Transmit Now

We'll be your poster boys for maybe a minute
until the bottoms out from under and they send in the cynics
and we'll be jumping into be with the "it" girl of the minute
until the fickle fascination ends now send in your critics

So they can tear us down and let us know that
we're no good for the radio, here we come and there we go
I think it's that time we should go.

So do you want to come with me?
we can get away and never look back
We can run away and that's a fact, what do you think about that?
I think it sounds so sweet that we should start right now

We've been your poster boys for maybe 10 minutes
so with the 5 left of the clock I think we should live it up
so when the record doesn't chart and then the label forgets it
we can still jump ourselves with the "it" girls of the minute
so they can lift us up and let us know how they loved our song from the radio
easy come, easy go, I think it's time that we should go

So do you want to come with me?
we can get away and never look back
We can run away and that's a fact, what do you think about that?
I think it sounds so sweet that we should start right now
So come with me, we can run away and never look back
we can get away, and that's a fact, I think about that
I think it's you and me baby on a one way track.

And then they pick us up off of the ground and tell us how they love our sound
we're the poster boys with the paper crown.

Lyrics for "Let's Go Out Tonight"
By Transmit Now

She motions baby come on with it, come on with it, I'm ready for anything, baby you and me.
I'm feeling so over this, I'll let go of it, I'm ready for anything, can't you see through me?

She said take me like you want me, cause you're never gonna get me alone again
Take me like you want me cause you're never gonna get me alone, and I think you should follow me out.

So let's go out tonight, I'm gonna show you all the ways I want you,
Show me the way that you move your body,
You know I love the way you dance up on me.
So let's go out tonight, and we can tear this town apart together,
If you wont speak then I wont wait, you shouldn't think about it anyway.

Hold on tight, close your eyes, just take a breath and hold it in, it will be alright.
What I'm trying to say, is that there is no other way, I'm thinking you should just stay and take me...

I don't meant to be rude, I just have to ask you, this time I know I'm ready for this, I know this time I'm ready for you (....)

Lyrics for "Issues"
By Transmit Now

Well get in line and with the times, cause that's what good people do
Shine up your shoes, put on your suit so we can fit in with you
Normalcy is ideology; it's meant to keep you in place
But the truth is that we're all messed up, put a smile on your face!

We all got issues don't let them convince you, that you're not okay just the way that you are.
We all got issues don't let this resist you, keep pushing them on and along and along.

So get in line and with the times cause that what we all should do
Lace up your boots, hit the commute cause it's what we gotta do
Normalcy is ideology; it's meant to keep you in place
But the truth is that we're all messed up in our own (...) ways
