No boys allowed. Or girls, for that matter.
Though there have always been all boys or all girls schools, a few years ago schools started thinking about separating students by gender for some classes with mixed results. But now, with an emphasis in schools on STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education, some are trying the idea out again, particularly when it comes to subjects that girls often avoid, like shop or engineering. It's an effort to turn around stats that show men outnumber women in science and engineering majors by the time students get to college. That said, some would argue that by creating the special sections for just girls, schools are discriminating against boys.
